I have been a resident of the Fraser Coast region for over 30 years during which time I have undertaken various occupations including farming, electrician and electrical contractor.

I am running as your candidate for Division 2 in the upcoming Fraser Coast Regional Council elections.

However, if elected though I will primarily be Division 2’s representative I intend to represent the entire region to the best of my ability.

During the past 4 years I have heard many grievances in regards to the increases in rates, the selling of machinery accumulated by previous councils such as Tiaro and Woocoo, the relocation of the main council facilities and services to Hervey Bay and the lack of communication and responsiveness of the current councillors towards the regions constituents. A recurrent theme has also been the perceived preference for advancing Hervey Bay to the detriment of all other areas.

As an elected councillor it is my aim, along with the other members of the “We Can Do It Team” to achieve the following:

1. Take back the control of council as I believe councillors are elected to represent the electorate and not to just rubber stamp proposals tabled by the bureaucrats

2. Reposition the main council facilities and services to Maryborough as it is the geographical centre of the region and use the current facilities to service Hervey Bay.

3. Reinstate the machinery and works depots at Tiaro, Woocoo and Maryborough to facilitate more efficient use of equipment and manpower

4. Overhaul the current rating system into a more equitable and reasonable structure on a sliding scale for business and residential properties.

5. Schedule council meetings throughout the entire region to enable residents to have easier access to council and their elected representatives
